Paul Gaylord of Oregon is recovering after being infected with the Black Death by a stray cat. Gaylord contracted the plague when he tried to pull a mouse out of the mouth of the cat, because it was choking on a rodent. Gaylord spent nearly a month on life support and only recently left the intensive care unit.
