The larva of a parasitic fly infesting honey bee. These parasites pass from host to host in infective faeces and typically, the fly deposits its eggs into the bee’s abdomen, causing the infected bee to exhibit zombie-like behavior. These parasites may be at least partially responsible for colony collapse in wild bee populations.
